Simon Carter aka Crystal Distortion originally from London has been for us one of our most important supporters and collaborators with whom we collaborated from the 2016, the first time in Sicily, until the 2019 in Uk and Florence.

Simon has been at the forefront of Improvised live electronic music. Before joining the ‘Spiral Tribe Sound System’, he released several 12’ Vinyls under The Alias “Earth Leakage Trip” making his debut on the iconic ‘Moving Shadow’ label, and continuing with ‘Rising High’ and ’Sapho’ a sub label. He was also responsible for studio engineering on many cuts from the East London based ‘Reel2Real’. But the UK in the early 90s and its stifling political crackdown on the Rave movement forced the ’Spiral Tribe’ into exile, so he was presented with a choice: Stay and be cut off from this permanent music outlet, or join the sound system on its voyage across Europe and beyond…

Living a traveler’s life for years and putting rave parties togethers he played a key role in defining its musical direction, including co-management of the first mobile recording studio and Vinyl Distribution outfit ‘Network 23’ during the spring of 1994. The ‘Spiral Tribe’ had by this point joined forces with the legendary ‘Mutoid Waste Company’ and was carving its indelible tattoo upon the newly awakened free party people of East Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. It was in the summer of 1995, while taking a creative sabbatical at their HQ ‘Mutonia’ that “Crystal Distortion” was born.

Pushing the envelope of production and performance alike, he rapidly became one of the most acclaimed live acts previously in Europe and now worldwide. He has put a highly individual stamp on almost every electronic style over the last 30 years, and his extraordinary ability to bend technology into new spheres has made him an iconic figure.

With over 100 single releases, 6 albums, numerous sample packs and custom sound design projects behind him, Crystal Distortion is perhaps best known for his improvised live sets. His Modus operandi is about bringing the public towards what appear at first to be recognizable musical ‘safe zones’ then adding his own personal untouchable tweaks and edits on the fly leaving the public with the impression that they are experiencing such for the first time…..

We look to continue to collaborate with Simon being honored and having the opportunity of his presence in some of our best parties
