Anarchistwood conceptualised the “prank rock” subgenre of music in 2005, combining elements of punk rock, video art, performance art with ironic and/or comedic lyrics into an eclectic mix of sounds. The ‘wood often display an experimental approach to sound and reject traditional musical structures. The group is often associated with DIY culture and the punk scene, and visually and aurally expressing a wide range of political and social messages with extravagant dayglo costumes. Based in London and Oxford, anarchistwood have continued to perform live across the UK, Eire and mainland Europe since 2006.
